A wonderful Dad, retired teacher and coach and overall good guy, Lyle Bogott passed away on January 4, 2021 in Alvin, Texas. He was born on May 28, 1927 in Sterling, IL, to Fred (Ted) and Celia Bogott. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Jean, whom he was married to for almost 70 years; two sisters, Katherine and Jeanette; two brothers, Danny and Fred; five brothers-in-law; and four sisters-in-law. Left behind to cherish his many memories are his son, Douglas Lyle of Alvin, TX; daughter, Sally and husband Keane Hudson, of Dixon, IL, and daughter, Jacci Lynn of League City, TX; sisters, Leah Faye Kyger of West Chicago, IL and Beverly Partridge of League City, TX; sister-in-law, Dottie (Ed) Conboy of Rock Falls, IL; and brother-in-law, William Maynard of Mesa, AZ. He also had many nieces and nephews who loved him.

Lyle grew up in Rock Falls, IL and attended Rock Falls High Schoo.l but left school early to enter the Army where he served from 1945 to 1947. He then returned home to graduate with the class of '47. He went to Monmouth College where he earned many varsity letters in several sports. He then went to University of Iowa and earned his master's degree in education. He got his first teaching/coaching assignments in Byron, IL and moved to Dixon in 1954 where he spent many years teaching, coaching and served as Athletic Director. He was inducted into the Rock Falls and Dixon High Schools Hall of Fame, 2004 and 2020 respectively.

He was part of the WWII veterans who went on the Honor Flight in 2011. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dixon. As everyone knew, Lyle was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He was to be drafted by the Browns baseball organization but chose a different direction. He loved his family and friends, enjoyed spending time in Texas away from the cold Illinois weather. He was a very humble man, who took care of his family, his home and of course his immaculate lawn. He always said "my wife made me the man I am" and he was a great man. Cremation rites have been completed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. He asked for memorials to be made to the Dixon Food Pantry and the Veterans Memorial Park of Dixon.
